Q: What is your favorite thing about working here

My favorite thing about working here is the variety of individuals we get to work with. Unlike previous work experiences that I’ve had, here at Your Life ABA I work with a diverse range of individuals, from young children to those in their late adulthood.

Q: What keeps you coming to work each day?

Seeing the individuals we work with and the growth and the progress that they make over time is what motivates me to come to work each day. Everyone here operates using a positive outlook/mindset even though we might deal with challenging things each day.

Q: How do you make an impact?

The biggest impact that we make is supporting our clients in their goals and helping them get to a level of independence that helps them be successful in their daily lives.

Q: What does a “day in the life” look like for your role?

As a regional supervisor, I monitor our locations in the northern region of Virginia, supporting Clinical Supervisors in the region. I don’t work in one specific clinic but provide direct in-home services in various locations such as group homes or adult day programs. I also provide therapeutic consultative services to an adult population and provide direct support to our behavior technicians in implementing programming and behavior support plans. Most of my days, I am out and about across various locations supporting where needed.

Q: Can you talk a little bit about your career trajectory and what led you to where you are now?

I started out in 2015 as a Behavior Support Specialist and then moved to Virginia from out of state and found Rivermont in 2017. I worked there as a Mental Health Associate, then Senior MHA, and became a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst in 2019 and moved into working as a site supervisor. I transitioned to Your Life ABA in September 2021 as a clinical supervisor, eventually being promoted to regional supervisor in October 2022.

Q: What has been your proudest moment or accomplishment in your role?

When I was new to being a supervisor, Covid-19 hit and it was difficult for us and our students and clients. , My proudest moments were how the team became very creative to help the students we served. We were able to rally together to keep working with them, even if it meant sitting in their driveways at their homes to help them. We returned back to campus in August 2020, so many of our students really needed the support during such a difficult time. Watching them be able to be as successful as possible during that time was incredible.

Q: What is something about you that not many people know?

I actually started my career in special education at New Story Schools in Pennsylvania before moving to Virginia and working for Rivermont and Your Life ABA.
