registered behavior tech

March 1 was Employee Appreciation Day! We are celebrating our team members all month long by sharing their stories. Read more about Takeeton Green, Registered Behavior Technician, and how he strives to care for and serve his clients to the best of his ability at Your Life ABA’s campus in Greater Petersburg, VA

What is your favorite thing about working here?

My favorite thing about working for Your Life ABA is seeing the impact that I’m able to make in the lives of those we serve. I love to see their smiles when they’ve accomplished a goal that they’ve worked hard to complete. I can’t take full credit for that. I would give credit to the team that I work with and my supervisor, Mrs. Brown, for being supportive and giving me advice on how to make an impact.

What keeps you coming to work each day?

What keeps me coming every day is the love I have for my family and the love and care I have for my clients. It’s very motivating for me to know that even during the days when I’m tired and things are hard, things will get better if I keep pushing and enduring.

How do you make an impact on clients’ lives?

I make an impact on the lives of my clients by giving them the best that I have and by putting into practice everything that I’ve been taught by my team around me. Ultimately, just showing them that I care.

Last year, we rolled out our BetterTogether guiding principles. Which one of our values resonates with you most personally and why? (Integrity, Accountable, Collaborative, Inclusive, Supportive)

All these principles are great! It’s very hard to choose because we all need them to be successful, but I would say, collaboration is key. I know that I have a team that will work alongside and help me when needed. We all don’t have the same talents and gifts. Even though we’re all different in many ways, but we can use that to our advantage and complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses to build something and help our clients thrive.

What does a “day in the life” look like for your role?

A day in the life looks like always being willing to learn from the day before and get better the next day. We should always look for ways we can get better to help serve our clients.

Can you talk a little bit about your career trajectory and what led you to where you are now?

I started my career in security as a corrections officer. However, I was always told even as a youth, that I was a leader and a teacher. I was led to this role by branching out of what I started in and using the gifts God gave me to care for and teach other people. I hope that I can continue doing this. This is what I’m supposed to do!

What has been your proudest moment or accomplishment in your role?

I would say my proudest moment or accomplishment is something that I experience every day, and that is making a positive impact on others that I serve. That brings me joy.

What is something about you that not many people know?

Something about me that people don’t know is, I’m a deep thinker and I like having conversations with people and asking questions. It’s funny because I’m more of an introvert, but I still like talking to people and understanding them. That’s something that this field has helped me with, understanding people.
