behavior analyst

March 1 is Employee Appreciation Day! We are celebrating our team members all month long by sharing their stories. Read more about Daniela Gaona Garcia, Licensed Behavior Analyst at our Your Life ABA campus in Fredericksburg, VA, and her passion for helping her clients live their best lives.

What is your favorite thing about working here?

Helping individuals with disabilities live their best lives!

What keeps you coming to work each day?

The smile on my clients’ faces when they can access something that makes them happier or more comfortable.

How do you make an impact on clients’ lives?

By being an advocate for individuals who aren’t always heard or understood and educating others on what these individuals might be trying to communicate with their behavior.

Last year, we rolled out our BetterTogether guiding principles. Which one of our values resonates with you most personally and why? (Integrity, Accountable, Collaborative, Inclusive, Supportive).

Collaborative, because I couldn’t do my job without my colleagues, and I really enjoy working with them!

What does a “day in the life” look like for your role?

My days can vary. I might be conducting assessments, meeting with clients individually, working on skills, meeting with caregivers, and providing training!

Can you talk a little bit about your career trajectory and what led you to where you are now?

I started my career as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) after graduating from the University of North Florida with my bachelor’s degree. From there, I began working on my Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) certification and worked as a BCaBA for a few years in Northern Virginia until I found my way to Your Life ABA!

What has been your proudest moment or accomplishment in your role?

My proudest moments in my role are when clients can access more of the things they love as their communication and skills improve.

What is something about you that not many people know?

I am originally from Bogota, Colombia!
